Pregnant

The story behind finding out we are expecting "Baby Seale #2

So when Jon and I started talking about expanding our family I (Kristen) had been teaching for 2 years. You know when you decide to start a family, you just...............expect it to happen. That was Sooooo not the case with us. We had already been married 3 years, and thought that if we tried then by the time we had our baby I would have 3 years of teaching under my belt.

Well it didn't happen the way we expected, and we had an early miscarriage in the process. In April of 2006 I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Not really a surprise because it runs in the family, but a big life adjustment needed to take place. It took a while to get diagnosed, and probably played a large role in why we weren't getting pregnant. It also took about a year to get things better, not under control, but better.

To our excitement we found out we were pregnant in August of 2008.

Peter was born in May 2009, and was and still is such a joy in our lives. Talk about a blessing from God. When Peter was 10 months old we started talking about having another one. We prayed that in God's timing we would get pregnant again. God definitely taught me a LOT during this time. "Patience with his timing" being #1. In the process we had another early miscarriage, and thought maybe God wants us to pursue adoption. (more on this to come later)

In the meantime my Crohn's was not under control, and I was in denial about it. (I don't really like talking about my Crohn's too much. It's just something I deal with, and it could be worse. God will never give you something you can't handle) I talked with my GI doctor and we decided to start a new medicine, an Immune suppressor. It was a pretty scary decision, but God helped us through it. Several months down the road we discovered that THIS medicine was WORKING!!!

So back to the adoption stuff. In June of 2011 we completed our adoption training. The room was all ready to go, and we were now just waiting for "THE PHONE CALL."

I started having some Crohn's issues. This time though it was not because my Crohn's, but because the medicine was working, and pointing out some problems that had been caused by my crohn's not being under control. So after several x-rays the doctor told us we needed surgery. I knew surgery would happen eventually, it always does with Crohn's. I was just not expecting it this soon, I'm not even 30 yrs old. So another big decision. We prayed about it, and thought God was telling us to go get the surgery.

Well we were wrong and God made it very clear to us. We were PREGNANT!!!
I guess the surgery will have to wait.
This is NOT the end of the story.................more to come.

Here is a picture of the newest addition to the nursery.
My grandparents bought us the amazing glider. It's navy blue. It has a matching footstool that also glides. And the best part is that the arms are padded also. I know Jon and I will be spending many nights rocking our little boy to sleep in this glider. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa.

It finally happened.....

I knew the time would come, and actually Jon and I have been on careful lookout for it.

Have you guessed what it is yet?

I lost my bellybutton. It's gone. Now my stomach is smooth. No super cute inny. I know it's not lost forever, but I can tell you it's very weird. Now Jon's waiting for the thermometer to pop out and say, "she's done."

20 week ultrasound pics

Here are the 20 week old ultra sound pics.

#1 Is his face. He has his right hand tucked behind his head and his left hand up as well. Then his big belly.

#2 Is his boyness. Now you can see why they are certain it's a boy.

#3 Is my favorite. His Right foot.

Boy or Girl?

And the answer is.....

We found out on January 6th.

When we did the ultra sound the baby was sleeping in a breeched position, Face down. I could have told you he would be facing that way, he's been kicking my bladder for quite some time now. My thoughts were, "Come on, you better be cooperative." Then I rolled over onto my side and the baby woke up. It took some looking but finally he let us see his "boyness", and there was NO mistaking that! We were told by the financial lady to bring a dvd to the ultrasound. We did, so we got the whole thing on DVD. I'm so glad we did, it is so amazing to see his face pop in and out. His spine, hands and feet. We did get three pictures too. I'll post them as soon as I scan them. And I'm hoping to post the video. It's very cool.

The funny thing is that my dad has been telling Jon and I to ," Take care of my grandson," since we told him we were pregnant. I don't know if it was wishful thinking or what? He did grow up with two girls of his own, and I was very much a tomboy.

Mom just wants a healthy baby. Me too!

Nancy predicted it was a boy before she even saw me at Christmas. Way to go Nancy!!! She just sent me this beautiful baby blanket, that matches the color scheme of the nursery perfect. I'll post a picture of it soon.

I don't know if Marilyn (Jon's mom) ever officially said what she thought the baby was, but deep down I think she was hoping for a boy to carry on the "Seale" family name. Jon's brother has a daughter.

Everyone is really excited about the baby boy!!! We haven't told all of our students yet, because of random testing, but I know they are itching to know. Hopefully Thursday.

If you know already ( like my family) then you are not allowed to vote.

Baby furniture

We finally bought something for the baby! We found this amazing deal. We bought all of this for the price you would normally spend on a crib. And I'm not talking about the bedding, mattress, and rails. I'm talking about just the crib and nothing else. Anyway here is what it came with....
1. Crib
2. Bedding
3. Mobile
4. Lamp
5. Changing table (which is my favorite part of the whole thing)
6. Swing
Here is a better look at the bedding.
I like the bedding, but I had something else in mind. So my mom is going to make us some bedding. We are just waiting to know if it's a boy or a girl.

We're Pregnant!

Ok. So we've been pregnant now for 3 1/2 months.....

And now I'm finally getting pictures up. Here is the announcement that we gave to Jon's mom, My parents, and my grandparents.

It was actually a puzzle that was sent to them in pieces. (by the way, my dad hates puzzles, but I think he liked this one)

Here is a picture of our first ultrasound. I am 7 weeks and 3 days. It doesn't look like much. That top round thing is not the head. The little "t" next to it is. And the "t" at the bottom is the behind. The doctor told me that this is the shrimp stage.

I'm not a big fan of pictures. But my mom wanted this one. Here is me at 13 weeks. (3 months and 1 week).

And here is the really cute onesie my mom and sister found for me "A YEAR AGO."

It says, "Sealed with a kiss."
This is actually posted December 9th. But I thought I would go back to before now to update you on the months I skipped.
I'm Late!
So originally I took a pregnancy test in July, I was late, so I decided to take one. The first test I took was the one with the line or the plus sign. (Let me recommend now that you use something a little more clear) I couldn't tell anything. Picture this, two twenty-something year olds staring at this test saying, "is it a plus, or is it a minus. "
So I went to the store and bought a digital test. Much... Much...Much Clearer. It said pregnant. How can you mess that up. You would think that after I saw the reading I would think, WOW we're pregnant. But I didn't. A week later I started. So I guess not. Oh well, it would have been great timing.
Now I'm Really late!!!
So August rolls around and again I am late again. I take another test, and again it says pregnant. (Digital of course) Jon and I looked at it and all we could say was, "hmmm." A week later I take another test, and again it says pregnant. Again it didn't feel real. 6 weeks rolls around and I'm still late, Really late. So I figure I guess it's about time to make a call to the OB. So I try to set up an appointment with an OB. I called one and the earliest she could get me in was 14 weeks. So I called another one. She said 12 weeks. Well that was earlier. I never play the Crohn's card, but I figure I might as well try. So I called the one I prefered and said, "I know you don't have any earlier appointments but I have Crohn's disease and it is active right now, which makes me a little worried about waiting 14 weeks." Before you know it I have an appointment at 7 weeks 3 days. ALRIGHT! Thank you Crohn's.
7th week 3 day appointment
It is our first appointment. It still doesn't feel real, and we haven't told anyone yet. So we go to the doctors. She does the exam and says "Yep you are about 8 weeks pregnant." Did it feel real? NO. Jon and I then walked down the hall to the ultra sound. (Did I mention that all I had on was a gown, and a sheet wrapped around my waist. And oh yeah there were 3 couples sitting in the hall waiting for their appointments) So I made some joke about this being the latest fashion. They laughed, whew. Jon is better at the jokes. We have the ultra sound done (which was not the jelly on the belly, which completely shocked me). Seeing that heart beat was the first time Jon and I thought, OK. WE'RE PREGNANT. We were sooooooooo excited. What a blessing!!!
So that is the update on how we found out.
