17 months

Peter,

You are 17 months old now and SOOOOO much FUN! You will eat quite a bit now. You still don't care for very many veggies or meat, although will gladly eat it if served with ketchup. (so will his father, ha) And you are a huge mooch. Every time I have something to eat, you want a bite, which usually involves walking towards me with your mouth open like a little bird.

You are down to 1 nap a day now. I am very thankful that it is usually a 2 1/2 to 3 hour nap. You are also a really good sleeper at night going to bed around 8 - 8:30pm and waking up around 7:45 - 8am. When you are tired you head towards your room, stopping only briefly to see if we are following you.

You have 14 teeth now. Your top incisors (sp?) just came in. You can chew pretty much everything now. Your favorite thing though is banana chips.

Fun Facts about Peter

- His favorite Toys are Balls, Cars and Drumsticks. You recently figured out how to get on and off of your rocking horse all by yourself, which you really enjoy.

- He enjoys wearing hats, especially the fireman hat. (I'm pretty sure that you will be a fireman for halloween)

- He is all boy now. While in the nursery last night at church he fell off the slide and scraped his cheek, and fell towards the jungle gym and gave himself a fat lip. He also has multiple bruises his around his knees.

- He loves to ride in the car-carts at HEB, Kroger and Lowes.

- He loves to play outside.

-He LOVES to play outside. (yes I listed that twice, can you feel the passion?)

- He is doing more sign language. He knows "all done, please, thank-you, drink, eat, bye-bye and book."
He also made up some of his own which include, "cymbals and drumsticks." Can we say "Highly influenced by his father."

- He is starting to try and copy what we say now. He is pretty successful at several of them, "da-da, ma-ma, nah-nuh (aunt banana), dog (dah), car (caw, sounds English), Jesus (Cheeses), Bible (Bye-bow, by far my favorite word he says), Bup (cup), and Hot. He will also try to copy pretty much anything you say, even though the two syllable words all sound the same sometimes.

Well I know that the only reason you stop by my blog is to see pictures of Peter, and I don't want to disappoint, so here you go.

Here is Peter one year ago. Propped up by pumpkins...........
...and HATING it.This year you are quite fond of pumpkins. Today our playgroup went to the pumpkin patch for pictures again. I don't have any of the group yet, but I'm sure one of the other Mom's will post them, and I'll copy them over here.
You seem to treat pumpkins very similar to balls.
You especially like the ones small enough to pick up.
"No smiling posed pictures today Mom, I'm busy."
This is the most common pictures I took today. Back of his head, heading somewhere exciting.
This is one of my favorites, and a regular event at our house. Sitting on a pumpkin, looking at the dogs outside.

And this last picture is what happens when you play in the backyard, after it rains, and fall into a hole that the dogs dug. The only thing you can do is strip him down, laugh, and put him in the tub.
Hope you enjoyed!
Here are the pictures of the group. Thanks Tara!

October brings some fun things!!!

Jon started exposing Peter to the drums already. He brought home a set of bongos. Fun stuff.

I also finished Peter's Halloween Costume. Can you guess what he is? Be nice, it is homemade.

I hoped you guessed a "Seal." This is probably the only halloween I will get away with dressing him up as a seal, so I had to do it.

And here is our trip to Colorado.
" My mom and I suprised them with a visit from their "GREAT Grandchild." Boy were my grandparents excited to see this little "snow bear."

Fall Pictures (5 months old)

Our "Little Man" is 5 months old now. I can't believe how much a little bundle of JOY could be such a blessing. I love being a "stay-at-home-mom." Here are some of the things Peter and I have been up to at home.
- Peter started Sitting up on his own. He's not really steady yet, he hasn't quite figured out that when he reaches for a toy that he needs to balance himself. This has opened a whole new realm of playing for him.

- He is also teething. Lots and Lots of drool. He chews on everything, and it's starting to hurt when he chews on my finger. The other night I let him chew on a slice of my honeycrisp apple. You would have thought he was in heaven. His whole body tried to envelope that piece of apple. I made the mistake of eating the chunk after he slobbered all over it. It was warm, and really nasty. I won't do that again.

- He sleeps pretty well at night. I put him to bed at 8 - 8:30pm. He wakes up around 2 am talking up a storm, so I put his pacifier back in his mouth and he goes back to sleep. Then he wakes up to eat around 4-5am. I feed him and put him back in bed, where he will stay till 7 or 8am. It has given Jon and I a chance to enjoy each others company before we go to bed.

- We have been meeting with several new moms from church every week. It has been a lot of fun experiencing our little ones growing up together. In the group we have two 6 month olds (boy and girl), two 5 month olds (boy and girl) and three 3 month olds (2 boys and a girl). I was worried about staying home and having enough to do, what was I thinking. I'm busier now that I have ever been. And I have made so many amazing friends in the process.

Things Peter enjoys.
- His einstein blocks
- exersaucer
- stuffed moose from Wisconsin
- Carseat Eric Carl caterpillar
- Baths in the big tub with his rubber seals (yes you heard that right, we have seals in this house not ducks)
- Laughing at daddy when daddy gets him ready for bed
- Waking up and seeing your face in the morning, he's all smiles. (what a nice thing to wake up for)
- His aunt "Banana"
- The toys from his Great Grandparents.
- Skyping with his Pedersen Grandparents
- His cousin Abby
- His Brown Grandparents

Here are some Fall/5 month pictures

The "Baby Momma's" from church and I went to the pumpkin patch to take pictures. Peter was not very fond of the idea, but I did manage to get some semi-cute pictures. I think maybe I'll try and get some more again, soon.
